Expert travel writer:

About

Susan trained as a journalist at Bristol Evening Post in the 1980s. She then became a feature writer on women’s magazines such as Elle before transferring to The Sunday Times where she has worked for more than 30 years. She also appears as a TV presenter and expert for various shows on the BBC and Channel 5 and is a spa consultant for award-winning hotels such as Grantley Hall in the UK.

Background

Susan’s travel career is entirely accidental. She was working on lifestyle stories at the Sunday Times when the then travel editor asked her to join his team. She also began writing about wellness by default. Spas were not rugged enough for her male colleagues so she was given ‘The Pampered Traveller’ column in The Sunday Times Travel Magazine and soon developed a genuine interest in wellness that has now become a lifelong passion. She has been rubbed, scrubbed, wrapped and slapped at literally thousands of spas since then.

On the bucket list

Trekking up Machu Picchu is top of the list, closely followed by a trip to the Galapagos.
