Expert travel writer:

Ellen Himmelfarb

About

Ellen started her career in Toronto, where she launched the fashion, shopping and real estate guides for Toronto Life magazine. In London she worked as an editor for Tatler, InStyle and Wallpaper magazines, going on to edit the magazine’s Chinese-language micro-site. After having her daughters she began a career as a freelance writer, and normally travels around a quarter of the year.

Background

After graduating with an MA in journalism, Ellen began her career in political gossip before happening into a job at a design and architecture magazine in Toronto. Honeymooning in Malta in 2002, she was inspired to write about a pilot scheme that used GPS technology to guide tourists between sites through their mobile phones. That led to a story in the Telegraph and a career pivot.

Ellen has always been fondest of urban travel and tries to spend as much time as possible with friends in Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, New York and Shanghai.
