Expert travel writer:
Dana Facaros
About
Dana wrote her first guidebook to the Greek islands at age 19, then teamed up with her husband Michael Pauls to write guides to Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, Malta and Greece. In recent years she has also written for the Sunday Times, Sunday Times Travel Magazine, Wanderlust, National Geographic Traveler among other publications. Her most recent books are the Bradt Guide to Northern Greece, with Bradt’s Umbria and the Marche coming out in 2021.
Background
Dana was working as an au pair in Paris and intending to spend the summer with her grandmother in Greece when she got a phone call from her agent saying the person who was supposed to write a guidebook to the Greek islands found a real job and would she do it instead. She had no idea that it was the beginning of a career, with the chance to raising her two children in different countries around the Mediterranean. And even after all these years she still enjoys going back to her favourite places.
