Clinging to the cliff in Mawgan Porth, this glamorous, 37-room luxury hotel ticks all the boxes: golden sand and surf, stunning eco-friendly glass-fronted architecture, great seasonal food, interesting wines, and a convenient location near Newquay airport.
The Scarlet’s crowning glory, though, is its Ayurvedic spa with tented treatment rooms, swinging relaxation pods, and log-fired outdoor hot tubs. As well as a cloister garden and yoga by the reed pool, the spa can organise wild swimming in a nearby lagoon and Nordic walking.
All rooms have ocean views and outside space.

The hotel is situated on rugged cliffs overlooking Mawgan Porth Beach. The surrounding area is known for its natural beauty, with breathtaking coastal walks, sandy beaches, and picturesque villages.
Mawgan Porth is a small-ish but busy seaside town and holiday resort, set behind and on either side of a glorious, horseshoe-shaped beach of golden sand and rolling surf.
It’s only a short 10-minute taxi ride from Newquay airport, and a great base for discovering other top north coast beaches and surfing hotspots and towns such as Watergate Bay (45 minutes), and Padstow (25 minutes).
