This sprawling resort, about 20 minutes south of Disney’s Magic Kingdom theme park, puts most of the focus on its three superb golf courses, designed by Watson, Palmer and Nicklaus.

Unsurprisingly, there are plenty of golfers, but this family-friendly resort remembers that not everyone likes to tee it up; there’s a vast range of other activities, including 10 pools and a five-acre water park as well a huge gym and a decent spa. It’s loud, brash and lots of fun.

Rooms are divided between the main tower and the one- to three-bedroom condo-style villas and apartments that are clustered in 15 separate ‘villages’ – ideal for bigger groups or larger families. You can watch the Disney fireworks from the rooftop bar.
