40 Best ski hotels & resorts in Europe

Ski writer and passionate skier Nicola Iseard recommends her favourite ski hotels in Europe. We all love a ski-in, ski-out, but there’s more to it than that.
Recommended place to stay:
The perfect base for families who are new to skiing – or simply want a faff-free holiday, there’s a ski rental shop right next to the hotel and the button lifts are just 10m away. The hotel has a children’s playroom with a built-in slide, and offers buffet dinners where kids can indulge at the help-yourself ice-cream station.
The spa (kids welcome) has indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs – guests can pay on entry, or request a room rate that includes spa access.
Built around the picturesque Trysilfjellet mountain, Trysil is Norway’s largest ski resort. Favoured by families for its excellent ski schools, reliable snow and child-friendly slopes, there’s a large children’s ski area on both sides of the mountain.
Night-skiing is the big draw – the resort floodlights several slopes, when the very lucky might get to ski beneath the Northern Lights. Downtown Trysil is home to chic bakeries, homeware stores and a hip brewpub.
