Mountain Lodge Telluride
Telluride, Colorado, United States of America (USA)|www.mountainlodgetelluride.com|
Official star rating:
You don’t get more ski-in, ski-out than this hotel – the Double Cabin green piste passes right by the front door. It has a mix of elegant rooms and suites spread among three log-and-stone buildings, along with stand-alone cabins that are perfect for families and groups.
The main lodge houses a magnificent wood-beamed bar and restaurant, warmed by an immense river-rock fireplace, with 30-foot windows looking out over the San Sophia Ridge. It’s a popular apres-ski spot – the bar has a daily happy hour. The heated outdoor pool and hot tubs are also popular post-skiing.
To reach the resort base, guests can board the free gondola, a short walk away, or the hotel offers a free shuttle service.
About the resort
Wild West charm and dramatic mountain scenery – Telluride has bags of character. A friendly, small-scale resort with just 1,700 acres of skiable terrain (Whistler has 8,171), what it lacks in size it makes up for with its top-quality terrain.
Experts have some truly challenging runs, such as Bushwacker – one of the steepest pistes on the planet.
Meanwhile, there are superb blue and green runs for beginners and intermediates. The resort is high, too – its lifts top out at a heady 3,815m.
