Sandwiched between the iconic Harvey Nichols department store and Hyde Park, there’s a glorious, over-the-top opulence to the MO, with acres of marble, a Michelin-starred dining room with Heston Blumenthal at the helm and wonderful views across Hyde Park.
A great choice for those who want to combine sightseeing with some serious pampering, the hotel’s spa is a subterranean, low-lit space centred around a 17m swimming pool, with Asian-themed treatments and therapies.
This is the place to come if you want classic, old-school glamour – although it does come at a price.
The hotel opens straight onto Knightsbridge; a busy, multi-lane highway that rumbles with buses and taxis at all times of the day and night.
The Harvey Nichols department store lies directly opposite, with elegant Edwardian buildings housing restaurants, cafes and shops.
This is a busy junction, that throngs with people both day and night, but the hotel is grand enough repel any noise once you’re through the door.
Step out of the back and you walk straight into the tranquillity of Hyde Park, with the Serpentine Gallery and bohemian Notting Hill and Portobello (on the other side of the park) all within walking distance.
