This iconic boutique hotel, located at the base of Steamboat Spring’s main gondola, is the resort’s only true ski-in, ski-out hotel.
Housed in one of Steamboat’s original village buildings, the hotel has a fresh, contemporary feel, helped by some whimsical art (think paint-by-numbers murals in the hallways). There’s a strong wellness theme here too, with expert-led fitness programs encouraging personal growth and connections with nature.
Apres Ski comes in the form of the heated outdoor pool and hot tub, and the slope-side restaurant and bar, Ptom’s. Skiers can refuel on elk chilli and shrimp tacos sat around the patio fire pits, or in the cosy bar. In the mornings, there are ‘grab and go’ breakfast burritos for skiers keen to catch the first chair.
About the resort
Steamboat Springs is a thriving authentic ski town that has a genuine Wild West vibe. Its pistes are extensive and varied and suit every type of skier.
At one end of the scale, there’s a large nursery area, with easy trails to progress on to; at the other end there is plenty of challenging terrain up in the glades – including some of the best tree skiing in North America.
Steamboat is known for its infamously light ‘champagne powder’. In fact, the term is a trademark of the resort (it was coined in the 1950s when a local rancher, Joe McElroy, observed that the snow tickled his nose like champagne).
