Westwood Lodge

Franz Josef Glacier is one of New Zealand’s biggest drawcards, but finding suitable accommodation in this part of the wild West Coast is tricky. This genuinely comfortable lodge-style property, complete with a billiard room and a fantastic bush garden, is therefore a pleasant surprise.

All nine rooms are spacious, warm and comfortable, with en-suite bathrooms and fine views of the surrounding native bushland. A cooked breakfast is included in the tariff, though you’ll need to make your own arrangements for dinner.

The lodge is conveniently just off the main West Coast freeway, and the main settlement of Franz Josef is a short drive away.
