The most famous hotel in the Caribbean is all about conspicuous luxury, shameless pampering and the chance to see A-list celebs snoozing on sunloungers, or knocking back Bolly in the famous Monkey Bar.

The setting is beautiful: a coral-stone, Palladian mansion backed up by a 300m golden beach shaded by mature mahogany trees. Inside, Italian marble floors and sumptuous fabrics complement the plantation-style decor, while the magnificent spa – housed in a separate Romanesque building – comes in at a cozy 47,000 sq ft.

There are three golf courses, including a fun nine-hole, but the real treat is either of the two championship courses – the Tom Fazio-designed country club course or the guests-and-members-only Green Monkey. The luxury is unrivalled, but so are the prices.
