Sydney
New South Wales, Australia

One of the world’s most dynamic and glamorous cities, with golden beaches, world-class eating and dining and effervescent, friendly people.
Best places to stay:
If you prefer to stay ‘local’ this is an excellent choice. The Larmont sits at the confluence of Darlinghurst, Kings Cross and Potts Point – three upscale, residential suburbs packed with funky restaurants, bars and boutique shops. It’s a short and pleasant walk to the city centre one way, and to delightful harbour bays the other.
Aimed at travellers looking for a more stylish and intimate atmosphere, there are 103 gorgeous and well-appointed rooms and suites, designed by Hassell Studio.
The hotel lacks in-house facilities like pools and bars, but guests do have access to a nearby fitness centre and some excellent restaurants in the Potts Point and Kings Cross area. There is also ample onsite parking – a rarity in Sydney.
Tucked away from the main thoroughfare of Darlinghurst Road, this hotel is surrounded by 1930s apartment blocks and modern high-rise towers. The surrounding streets have a good range of restaurants, bars and cafes – plus essentials like supermarkets and a post office.
The nearby train station provides fast transport to both the city centre and Bondi Junction. You can walk into the city centre in 15 minutes.
A short amble down the hill takes you to stunning Rushcutters Bay, home to some of the world’s most expensive boats and a sailing club. Woolloomooloo’s Finger Wharf, home to several excellent restaurants, is a little further away but also reachable on foot.
