College Hotel

Last updated: 05 January, 2024

In a former 1930s school, this fun, classroom-themed four-star hotel puts you smack bang in Old Lyon, within walking distance of Renaissance-era streets and the city’s famed traboules (covered passageways).

Nods to the building’s past – from monumental crayons at reception to the desk dining tables in the breakfast room – fill the place.

Many rooms offer stunning views over Old Lyon, the Presqu’ile and the hilltop Fourviere basilica, a mere quick funicular ride away.

At night, the building’s exterior comes alive with dancing illuminations, making the terrace bar a theatrical spot for a pre-bed cocktail.

Surrounding area

The hotel puts you right in the pastel-painted Old Town, within walking distance of its museums, Renaissance mansions and traboules (passageways), yet blissfully away from the touristy bustle.

Cross the Saone River on nearby Pont de la Feuillee (bridge) and you’re in chic Presqu’Ile, home to high-end shops and restaurants.

Or brave the steep, cobbled staircases up the Fourviere hillside to unearth Lyon’s Roman history.
