Best places to stay:
Hidden away in a large forested garden, this intimate boutique property offers easy access to the glamorous Camps Bay strip as well as a welcome retreat from the crowds.
Rooms are split between the historic manor house, dating to the 1920s, and newly built wings. Expect contemporary décor and private terraces that make the most of garden and ocean views.
There are three swimming pools, an on-site spa and a private pathway leading to the nearby beaches. The excellent restaurant, Himitsu, dishes up contemporary Asian cuisine, and the whole package is nothing short of a hidden gem.
Camps Bay is (in)famous for sea-facing properties built cheek by jowl, but Camps Bay Retreat offers acres of private forested garden ensuring a respite from the bustle of the Camps Bay beachfront.
It’s close to the action, yet cloistered in nature – a perfect combination.
