Best places to stay:

Last updated: 02 November, 2022

A thorough, no-expense-spared renovation has made De L’Europe Amsterdam the premier place to stay for those seeking oodles of traditional luxury.

Bedrooms are plush and high tech, dining is sophisticated and public spaces such as the lounge, with its crystal chandeliers and giant reproductions of Golden Age Dutch Masters, are eye-poppingly lavish.

The central location of the late 19th-century building, right alongside the River Amstel, is the arguably best of Amsterdam’s five-star hotels – on the southern of the character-filled Canal Ring, yet walking distance to the big art museums and designer shopping.
