This Limelight hotel is housed in a handsome brick building on Sun Valley’s main street, a few blocks from the base station. It embodies the same ‘fun, unfussy luxury’ that can be found at its sister hotels in Aspen and Snowmass, making it ideal for families.
The Lounge is the hub of the place, where skiers meet for après-ski happy hour, and fabulous wood-fired pizzas are served every evening. It’s also the stage for regular live music acts.
The outdoor pool has elevated hot tubs that are perfectly positioned to take in the views of Bald Mountain.
When it’s time to ski, guests hop on the free shuttle to Bald Mountain and Dollar Mountain.
About the resort
Sun Valley was the first purpose-built resort in the USA, established in 1936. It quickly became popular with the Hollywood crowd – stars like Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable skied here – and has retained a stylish ambience.
The skiing is spread across two areas; Bald Mountain is a haven for intermediates and experts, with long, thigh-burn groomers, and the black diamond Easter Bowls off the Lookout chair. Meanwhile, Dollar is essentially a private mountain for beginners and kids, with six lifts serving 22 mellow blue and green trails.
